Primary, Middle and Secondary School...

School to work transition starts in our elementary school. Student’s progress through a series of activities designed to clarify career goals and programs, which provide hands-on work adjustment, skills training, and work experience.

Students 1-8 participate in experiences that foster career awareness, facilitate career planning and develop career decision-making skills. Activities in this phase include: self-assessment, interest and aptitude testing, job shadowing and job seeking skills.

For our secondary school programs, The Rugby School at Woodfield utilizes a comprehensive educational and vocational curriculum that offers highly specialized systems. These are designed to motivate, guide and encourage students in the pursuit of post graduate careers and educational experiences. Rugby utilizes several programs that lend support to students in helping them to stabilize their behavior in an educational setting and overcome the challenges that have prevented them from succeeding previous educational placements.

Primary school students receive hands-on instruction in a fully equipped computer laboratory with orientation to personal computers, orientation to word processing, document printing and file management, introduction to graphics applications, introduction to spreadsheet applications, as well as augment academics and enrichment activities. Rugby's computers are interactive with Internet access.

Beginning in first grade, individualized instruction is offered in small structured classroom settings that allow students to work at their own pace with the guidance, challenge and encouragement of certified special education teachers and assistants.
